My name is Dr Dominique Fray-Aitken (pronouns: she/her/hers).  I am a UK-based HCPC registered and BPS chartered counselling psychologist with over seven years' experience of providing counselling and psychological therapy in the NHS, charity sector, and private sector/practice.

I first started my private practice on Harley Street in 2017.  After nearly five years (and the COVID-19 pandemic), I saw the need to move my practice predominately online in order to meet the growing needs of my client group.

I've worked with children, young people, adults and older adults from all walks of life and all around the world who experienced a wide range of difficulties in life.

I am trained in a range of therapies, including person-centred, psychodynamic (as well as dynamic interpersonal), and cognitive behavioural therapies.

Current Portfolio:

-Committee member for the West Midlands Branch of the British Psychological Society

-Member of the Black and Asian Counselling Psychologists Group

-Member of the British Deaf Association

-Member of the British Society for Mental Health and Deafness

Become Your Better Self

What to Expect

My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is relational, as in, I explore with my clients their relationship patterns and difficulties to make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.  Often when we are in distress, it can be linked to a challenging relationship, a breakdown, or to the inability to connect with others.  As social beings, for us to feel good, we need to have good relationships with ourselves and others. Something to think about:  are you being and living your most authentic self? If not, let's explore the 'why' together,

I consider myself an integrative psychologist as I do not follow one specific theoretical orientation.  I tailor therapy to meet my clients' needs by drawing on several different theoretical models and applications.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy to individuals on a weekly basis, for 50 minutes in person and online.

In addition to providing therapy online, I have a clinic at the Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham.  Please note, face-to-face sessions are charged at a higher fee.

Currently, I accept certain insurances via HelloSelf.  Please do get in touch for more information.

I'm GDPR compliant and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
